Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) took aim at Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump in her commencement speech at Suffolk University in Boston this weekend, highlighting Trump's lamentable record with women.

“How’s this speech polling so far?" she asked during her address. "Higher or lower than Donald Trump’s unfavorable numbers with women?"

The audience erupted into raucous applause.

Warren has repeatedly condemned Trump on Twitter for his proposals and persona in recent weeks:

Trump, for his part, has reacted by branding Warren "Goofy Elizabeth Warren" -- and even called her "the Indian" at a news conference in a nod to her claims of Native American ancestry.

The GOP candidate faces ongoing criticism for his behavior toward women. In a recent New York Times article, several women accused him of making unwanted advances toward them and behaving inappropriately. As Warren mentioned, the vast majority of women polled do not view Trump in a positive light: According to an April Gallup poll, 7 in 10 women had an unfavorable opinion of him.

But Warren did not limit her commentary to Trump on Sunday. She also offered plenty of advice to graduates based on her own experiences and challenges -- including her early marriage and the obstacles she's faced being a woman in Washington.

“All the planning in the world can’t prepare you for the twists that are coming your way,” she said. “Don’t be so focused in your plans that you are unwilling to consider the unexpected.”

“Now that I am in the Senate, I can tell you that Washington is full of people who say ‘no, no, no,’ and who are saying it in nastier and nastier and nastier ways," Warren added. "Fight for the job you want, fight for the people who mean the most to you, and fight for the kind of world you want to live in.”

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
